Jan. 29th, 2012 04:07 pmI do rather wish all the people who give one advice about computers and posture and so on would admit for a second that not everyone has the ability to acquire a whole new desk set-up. You're telling me no one, no one at all, has ever thought about how to use a laptop more effectively or how to deal with furniture that isn't very adjustable? Because I KNOW that it is best to have a desktop with a keyboard on a lower shelf in your desk and chairs that adjust to the right height (on that note, why is there no adjustable desk? That's always way more of an issue. The distance between my knees and the ground will never change so surely I need to fit a chair to that and the desk to that?) But what I have is a laptop, some ancient furniture, no space and a willingness to try different ways of sitting. Why do none of these ergonomic types have advice for that? Especially as increasing numbers of people only have laptops. I admit I'm probably particularly bad as I use mine unceasingly and tend to sit cross-legged or with my feet tucked up, but still!
In less whiny news, finally got around to starting Lolly Willowes after having it recommended repeatedly for years and have no idea why I didn't read it earlier. So far it's immensely charming.
