Feb. 19th, 2012 08:16 pmI have ALL THE EXCITE about the latest Fringe!
I just want to know what happens! What are Lincoln and Walter going to do with suspicious Nina! What will Olivia do while kidnapped? (I think we all know by now that she invariably does AWESOME THINGS and self-rescues and is generally wonderful when kidnapped, but I want to know what!) What is going on with Nina? (I have seen people guess both shapeshifters and alternate universe versions! I don't know which I believe though.) I am too excited to speculate, I'm just sitting here vibrating with insane desire for MORE.
Also I love that Olivia is always the most sensible! Weird shit is happening and she has all the feelings and she talks about them! Her and Peter have conversations and try to work shit out and make sure that everyone is happy with how things are going! They are my favourite tv couple pretty much because of this. All the writers should watch this and take notes. Look, you don't need to have people not talk! Terrible things can happen even with couples who are honest with each other! Sometimes they can talk and decide things together and that can be even worse because people are never as rational as they think they are! Not that I want terrible things to happen to Olivia and Peter because I am ludicrously invested now and I only want them to have all the happy endings.
Also Astrid! I love that they're letting her do more now that she doesn't have to be Walter's eyes and ears. I mean, hive-boy had better not come back to hit on her more, but I like that she is calm and competent to deal with him and so nice. <333333
And I am so amused by the denouement to the theoretical A-plot with the murderers. I love that Olivia cuffs them and we can just move on, she's clearly got this sorted. I mean, I always knew she was that great, but it always amuses me when I'm on the same page as TPTB in terms of what is the interesting part of the story.
On a non-Fringe note: I know Canada-picking isn't really a thing in fic, but for future reference for American authors? I have never met a Canadian who would have felt guilty about letting people 19+ drink. Frankly, most Canadians wouldn't care about 18 year-olds drinking (or younger even, but qualms about actually buying them booze might set in there). I am talking about Canadians who are fine with some level of social drinking here obviously, people who object to all alcohol are a different matter, but pretty much everyone up here who drinks thinks that 21 is a ridic drinking age. I believe that Canadians in the States might not buy booze for people under 21 if they were concerned about the law,* but not that they would find TWENTY too young to have a beer and feel super guilty about providing it. I keep seeing it and it only makes me laugh (plus breaking my suspension of disbelief about the Canadian-ness of the character). Sorry USians, we think you're Puritans about that!
*Benton Fraser, say, would obviously never buy booze for the underage in Chicago and would lecture people firmly about the law of the land, though equally I doubt that he would care about 19 year-olds drinking if he was back in Canada, provided that they were not doing something else illegal.

Date: 2012-02-20 04:43 pm (UTC)And I can't even about Lincoln because the only answer I want to that question is NEVER, but I could see it being soon? He is in exactly the wrong place right now with the sketchy Nina who's half found-out so there's lots of space for dramatic symmetry if she turns out to be in charge of the shapeshifters who killed Robert and I could see him dying doing something to her for that. But it would also make sense for him to die in the process of trying to rescue Olivia, depending on how the Nina at Massive Dynamic trys to play this and how fast Peter can call them (and how great is it that Peter is unlikely to run off half-cocked after Olivia and we can be pretty sure he will be sensible and call people?)

Quite compelling scenarios. From a narrative viewpoint, that is. I just can't see both Lincolns making it out of this alive.
This is the best thing about Fringe, isn't it? That generally, they act like sensible adults and share information (if not feelings, natch ;).
