She's definitely still better at writing about Tortall and Emelan, but I am glad that she's trying to write about POCs more (particularly POCs who aren't assimilated into European-influenced cultures), especially because Trickster's Queen went in exactly those directions, and this book didn't. It sounds like she took the criticism she got for it seriously, which is a nice thing to hear about a favourite author.
